Voyager initiates Phase III Studies

Voyager has initiated a Phase III clinical program designed to investigate the safety and efficacy of leuprolide acetate in stabilizing cognitive function and in treating the signs and symptoms in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. The titles of the studies are: A Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Study of VP 4896 for the Treatment of Mild-to-Moderate Alzheimer's Disease – protocols VP-AD-301 and VP-AD-302. These studies can also be referred to as the Antigonadotropin-Leuprolide in Alzheimer's Disease Drug Investigations or the ALADDIN Studies.

Voyager completed recruitment for its second Phase II clinical trial in April of 2005 for our patented use of leuprolide acetate. This trial is investigating the safety and efficacy of leuprolide acetate (a hormone drug) compared to placebo on cognitive function and global function in men with Alzheimer’s disease. In January 2005, Voyager completed an initial Phase II clinical study for women with Alzheimer's disease and nearly 90 percent of “completers” elected to enroll in an extension study.
